How a flexagon works
A flexagon is a folded form that reveals a new face each time it flexes. Nothing is added and nothing is taken away — the same form simply turns a different side towards you.
One form, three faces — each brought to the surface by a different fold.
The object
The flexagon is a small mathematical curiosity. Take a long strip of paper, pleat it into a band of triangles, and join the ends: what looks like a flat hexagon turns out to hide faces you cannot see at rest. Flex it along its creases and a hidden face rotates into view while the one you were looking at folds away — the same strip of paper, showing a side it kept in reserve.
It was first folded in 1939 by Arthur Stone, a mathematician experimenting with a trimmed strip of paper, and later made famous by Martin Gardner in Scientific American. Its cleverness is entirely structural: a single, continuous band, folded with discipline, holds several faces in one compact form and offers up whichever one the flex calls for.
Why we took the name
Because we are built the same way. Flexagon is one disciplined platform — a single body of expertise in structuring, allocation and growth — that we refold around each mandate. The underlying capability does not change from client to client; what changes is the face we turn towards the problem.
A private-debt strategy, a UCITS wrapper, a corporate turnaround, a bespoke allocation across real and financial assets: these are not separate businesses but different faces of the same structure, brought forward when a strategy calls for them. The discipline stays constant. The configuration flexes.
